Secretariat General of the Higher Education Council

The SGHEC performs many tasks, its core functions are to set policy, provide and monitor the regulatory framework, monitor performance of the sector and to safeguard the interests of students.

Through the sector the higher education Council aims to achieve the following:

1. Provide in-depth opportunities for students to specialize in fields of knowledge that will meet the future needs and requirements of sustaining and development of the economy.
2. Enhancing and encouraging scientific research to contribute to the advancement of overall knowledge; and reinforcing creativity and innovation to meet the needs of the economy and society.
3. Promoting the development of human capital in various fields and providing the Kingdom with professionals, technicians, specialists, entrepreneurs and experts.
4. Developing technology and harnessing it to the service of education and society.
5. Developing interest in Arab, Islamic and World culture and protecting the national heritage whilst also enhancing it.
6. Promoting closer cultural ties; professional and educational affiliations with Arabic, Islamic, International universities and higher education institutes throughout the world.
7. Providing professional and technological support and services the to higher education public and private sectors.
8. Enhancing citizenship and emphasizing Arabic and Islamic values and promoting citizenship throughout.
9. Developing successful life skills in students to cope with changeable world.
10. Nurturing student’s ability to exercise critical thinking and solve problems creatively.
