Dr. Abdulghani Al-Showaikh, Secretary-General of the Higher Education Council, held a virtual remote meeting with the presidents of private higher education institutions to discuss the preparations of the new academic year 2020/2021.
Dr. Al-Showaikh also discussed the academic and administrative aspects, infrastructure, online services, and precautionary measures.
Dr. Al-Showaikh stressed the need to fully adhere to the precautionary guidelines issued by the Ministry of Education in both Arabic and English, covering various basic recommendations, precautionary and preventive measures to minimize the impact of the pandemic.
Dr. Al-Showaikh also highlighted the need to continue the development of higher education institutes plans, strategies and projects that advance academic efforts, including administrative and academic staff development, development of electronic educational platforms, application of fair and comprehensive assessment systems and importance of academic research. He also highlighted the need to plan for measures to bring students back to faculties, based on health authorities’ recommendations. In conclusion, he wished all participants success in the new academic year.
