Bahrain Higher Education Council National Skills Gap Survey

The current higher education to employment system needs continuous improvement for employers and graduates in order to match expectations with real situation. Data from various surveys make it clear that the expectations of employers in Bahrain are not being met by graduates and, similarly, graduates feel that the higher education sector has not prepared them for the labor market (Qudarat Survey 2013). The system is not producing graduates with the key employability skills that are demanded, which include problem solving, critical thinking, communication skills, teamwork, numeracy and mental speed.

The Secretariat General of the Higher Education Council-Ministry of Education is conducting a survey to better understand these issues. The survey is a project of the National Higher Education Skills & Innovations Steering Committee, which is composed of leading figures from the educational sector, the research sector, the government sector, and the private sector, with the goal of improving coordination between employers and the education sector.

Your participation in this survey would be extremely valuable to this project. All responses are confidential and anonymous.

The survey takes approximately 5 minutes to complete and it can be completed on any device with an internet connection, including a smartphone.

Should you have any questions/comments, please contact the survey coordinator, Dr. Omar Al-Ubaydli (oalubaydli@derasat.org.bh).
